Frequently asked questions
What is OpenTrust Verify?
OpenTrust Verify (OTV) is a crypto payment verification system from POP Trust. It checks an incoming transfer and returns a signed verdict on whether the named recipient can spend what arrived.
What is a signed verification verdict?
A signed verification verdict is the result of an OTV check. The server signs the canonical verdict payload with Ed25519. The schema id is otv.verdict.v1. Clients can verify that signature with POST /v1/verdicts/verify. They do not mint verdicts. The status is one of the published enum values, and SPENDABLE is allowed only after FINAL.
What is OTV?
OTV is the short name for OpenTrust Verify. It is not a television or streaming product. It verifies incoming cryptocurrency payments. Do not shorten the product to OpenTrust.
Is OpenTrust Verify the same as other projects named OpenTrust?
No. OpenTrust Verify (OTV) is the POP Trust product at https://otv.poptrust.me. POPTRUST TECH VENTURES NIGERIA operates it. It checks an incoming cryptocurrency payment and returns a signed verification verdict. It is not a marketplace and it does not escrow funds. The software is licensed.
What does OTV verify?
OTV verifies an incoming claim: a chain, a network, a transaction hash, and a recipient. It collects evidence for inclusion, execution, asset, recipient, amount, balance change, and finality. The verdict status is one of OBSERVED, PENDING, EXECUTED, ASSET_CONFIRMED, BALANCE_CONFIRMED, FINAL, SPENDABLE, REJECTED, SUSPICIOUS, or UNVERIFIED.
How does crypto payment verification work?
A client posts the claim to POST /v1/verify/incoming. The API uses a chain adapter to read the network. It does not treat a broadcast, a log, or a transfer by themselves as spendable funds. The signed verdict is the result.
How can I verify a cryptocurrency transaction?
Create an account, mint an API key, and send the chain, network, transaction hash, and recipient. You can also look up a stored verdict by ID on the public verifier without a key.
How does OTV confirm an incoming crypto payment?
Confirmation depth is configured per network. Ethereum mainnet uses 12 confirmations, Bitcoin mainnet uses 6, Solana mainnet uses 32, and Tron mainnet uses 19. FINAL means the configured depth was reached. SPENDABLE is a later status, after the balance evidence, and is not implied by a hash alone.
Can OTV verify blockchain transactions?
Yes, for the chains in the adapter registry. A missing or mock adapter is marked and is not live chain proof.
Which blockchains does OTV support?
The registry includes Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum One, Optimism, Base, BNB Smart Chain, Avalanche C-Chain, Gnosis, Linea, Scroll, Blast, ZKsync Era, Mantle, Celo, Moonbeam, Fantom, Cronos, Aurora, Metis, Polygon zkEVM, Unichain, World Chain, Mode, Taiko, Sonic, Bitcoin, Solana, Tron. A mock network exists for local tests and is not a public chain.
Which cryptocurrencies does OTV support?
Each chain has its native asset, such as ETH, BTC, SOL, or TRX. The catalog also names common assets such as USDC and USDT on selected networks. On an EVM network, verification can take a contract address for an ERC-20, ERC-721, or ERC-1155. A symbol alone is not a token identity.
Can developers integrate OTV?
Yes. The HTTP API accepts a bearer token or an X-OTV-Api-Key header. The browser uses a session. Interactive reference is at /api/docs and the machine-readable document is at /v1/openapi.json.
Does OTV provide an API?
Yes. The hosted base URL is https://otv.poptrust.me. The check is POST /v1/verify/incoming. Public lookup is GET /v1/verdicts/{id}. Signature check is POST /v1/verdicts/verify.
How does OTV handle transaction confirmations?
Each network has a confirmation count in the chain registry. The pipeline does not skip from OBSERVED to SPENDABLE. Finality is its own evidence item, and SPENDABLE is allowed only after FINAL.
Can OTV be used for merchant payments?
A merchant or payment system can submit the incoming claim and wait for the signed verdict before treating funds as spendable. OTV does not custody assets and does not send the payment.
Can OTV be integrated into payment systems?
Yes, over HTTPS. Webhooks can notify a workspace when a verification is final, failed, or suspicious. Webhook URLs are checked so they cannot target a private network, and each body is HMAC-signed.
Can OTV be used by automated systems?
An automated client can call the same HTTP API a developer calls. The spendability decision follows the evidence in a fixed order. The API does not sign or broadcast transactions.
